Why Mindset Matters?

Each one of us has a certain way of thinking, same as the proverbial expression of half full vs. half empty of the glass. Our natural tendency to think one way or another is the blueprint that shapes our beliefs.

In other words, the usual pattern of our thoughts is our mindset, and based on our mindset, we accept that certain things are true and those become our beliefs. What is interesting about mindset is that it is habitual and unconscious.

Our mindset frames and directs every aspect of our lives from very trivial to the most important decisions of our lifetime, while we rarely notice it. This unconscious nature makes it difficult to detect and analyze in day-to-day activities, although it plays such a significant role.

The way we think is like a pair of glasses through which we see and perceive everything, and we use this mindset so often that after a while we don’t even realize it’s existence. Have you ever seen your grandparents or parents looking for their glasses, while wearing it? or have ever driven to a destination and then thinking back and not remembering how to got there? [Ya, me neither!].

The good news is that this habitual nature of mindset gives us hope that we can be in control and we can use tools and techniques to recognize, modify or change it.

If you ever wondered, how this mindset affects your life, I will leave you in good hands of Gandhi to explain:

Your beliefs become your thoughts,

your thoughts become your words,

your words become your actions,

your actions become your habit,

your habits become your values,

your values become your destiny.
